2022

The year everything started.

What began as a simple axe sheath, following a tutorial from Weaver Leather Supply, became the foundation of a lifelong craft. Working with whatever was available, I used natural vegetable-tanned leather from local shops and hand-dyed every piece myself.

This was a year of learning through repetition: cheap tools, rusting steel, free patterns, and trial by fire. I explored different leathers without fully understanding them yet, experimenting with materials sourced from Durango, Mexico, supported by my family.

Late in the year, everything shifted. Discovering higher-end leathers like Buttero, goat, and eventually Badalassi Carlo Pueblo changed my perspective entirely. The feel, the workability, the finish. There was no going back.

This was also the year I began experimenting beyond the basics. Ink stamping, pushing boundaries, and stepping outside comfort. With my first proper leather knives, gifted by a friend, my work began to evolve.

This year was not about perfection. It was about starting.
